AIDS orphans in Cameroon

allAfrica.com: Cameroon: 52,000 HIV/Aids Orphans Survive On Succour

Here’s an excerpt from this article on a recent HIV/AIDS conference in Cameroon:

Although the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the Northwest Province seems to have dropped from about eight percent to six percent in four years, the number of orphans from parents who have died of the virus is cause of concern.

According to the Northwest Provincial Coordinator of the Fight Against HIV/AIDS, PTG, Dr. Magdalene Mayer, these orphans need balanced diets and regular motherly care from thier guardians.

Dr. Mayer was speaking at a three-day workshop for HIV/AIDS support groups in the Northwest organised and sponsored by the Platform of Fighters Against AIDS, PAFAC, at the Presbyterian Church Centre, Ntamulung.
