“President Felipe Calderon announced his plans to lift a Mexican Ministry of Economy requirement that pharmaceutical companies operating in Mexico must have a manufacturing plant in that country in order to use or sell generic versions of their lifesaving AIDS and other drugs in Mexico.” 

Merck To Sell Discounted Antiretrovirals to Mexico, Kaiser Network (Aug. 4)
“Mexican Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova said drugmaker Merck has agreed to sell two antiretroviral drugs at a reduced price in Mexico, the AP/International Herald Tribune reports.”

Gilead Sciences And Merck & Co., Inc. Agree To Register And Distribute HIV Medication In Twelve Countries, Medical News Today (Aug. 4)
Two major drug companies have reached an agreement to make “the first once-daily single tablet regimen for HIV” available in 12 new countries (Argentina, Australia, Chile, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Uruguay.)  Note: I believe this is a press release from the drug companies themselves, so this isn’t exactly independent reporting.  Make of that what you will.
