Bill Gates to fund AIDS efforts in India

According to an article from The Times of India, “software pioneer Bill Gates on Friday announced a USD 23 million grant to India to control the scourge of HIV/AIDS in the country.”  The $23 million is to be spent over three years through India’s National AIDS Control Organization.

Gates just retired from active leadership in Microsoft to focus on the work of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, an important and highly-regarded organization that distributes grant money to projects that meet the Foundation’s goals of “improving health and reducing extreme poverty in the developing world and improving high school education in the U.S.”

Three cheers for software billionaires with hearts!
